Google Goes Morse!!!

Even Google gmail has figured out that CW is faster than typing... too funny.

This is actually something that came out of Japan about 3 years ago called the "Clic" I believe.

Leave it to Google to bring this to the public. What a great way to learn CW.

Check the publication date.  Was it April 1?

Check out this link.  It's no April fools, but nice try.  You can't read it, but you'll see the Japanese characters in Morse for the same thing in Google.  It's great.  And all my friends said CW is a dying language.

Aw man, I feel like a knucklehead.  I swear I heard this come out a few years ago and I read it somewhere.  Now I'm thinking it was an April Fool's joke then too.  I personally like the idea though.

Thanks for kicking mud on my excitement about CW taking over SMS.   :)

I actually downloaded the App and installed it. Works just fine and not a bad way to learn CW (from my point of view). You can copy the text to a clip board, directly to email, mms, sms, etc.

I did find the concept that it was faster than text to be a little far fetched though. Regardless, it has it's uses.

I tried to download the Google app and got a message saying that they were too busy and to check back next year.  That seemed odd so I did a search and found several sites that said it was a hoax.

Also they said you could set up 8 morse code keyboards and have 8 conversations at once.  I have a hard time having one conversation at a time so I figured that was fishy too.

That is strange, I just did a search for the term "google tap" in the Apple store and up popped an App called "Morse Tap - Keyboard" which appears to be a replica of Google Tap. Perhaps it was originally a joke that turned in to a real App? Again, I don't think it would be highly practical but it works. It's best application might simply be as a learning tool..

It does sound like a handy way to learn and practice morse code.  Can you send and receive messages with other people who have the app?

Unfortunately the application doesn't work directly; however you have an option to export directly to SMS or MMS. Kind of cumbersome but it would work.
